SUMMARY:The Calling Clubnight! (Goth/EBM/Darkwave/80s) - July
DESCRIPTION:July seems the right time for a variety of celebrations\, so you’ll be happy to know for this Calling we have a late night music license agreed and will be pushing on through until a delectable 2am. \n\n\n\nBrace yourself for everything from the classic goth to the heavier side of goth EDM . \n\n\n\nIf you have requests\, the most successful chance you have for them to be played is by asking in advance! Please post in the event and let us know if you have any cherished songs you hold close to your heart. No Top Gun themes allowed. \n\n\n\nTo everyone attending\, if you can\, please take a LFT before attending. We want to make this as safe as possible for everyone attending\, and there have been a number of ‘super spreader’ events in other parts of the county recently. \n\n\n\nEntrance is free but it does cost to keep running. So any donations are massively welcomed (will need to be in cash).

SUMMARY:The Rose of Avalanche + Desperate Measures + The Vaulted Skies
DESCRIPTION:ROSE OF AVALANCHE Biography:Back after a break of more than 25 years\, The Rose of Avalanche return with an album of their previously unavailable BBC Radio 1 sessions\, and a prestigious support slot on The Mission’s 2022 UK tour.Formed in Leeds in 1984\, the band came to prominence following heavy airplay of their debut single\, the “apocalyptic epic” L.A. Rain\, by the BBC disc jockey\, John Peel. Radio 1 sessions for Peel and Janice Long followed\, and L.A. Rain sat proudly at number 26 in Peel’s 1985 Festive Fifty\, above songs by The Cure\, The Smiths and The Sisters of Mercy. \n\n\n\nThe band continued to dominate the indie scene of the period\, with follow-up singles\, Goddess\, Too Many Castles in the Sky\, Velveteen and Always There\, all topping the indie charts. Successful headline tours across the UK and Europe followed along with supporting everyone from Nico to David Bowie. \n\n\n\nMagnificently raw\, beautiful and loud\, The Rose of Avalanche are back to reclaim their rightful place at the top table of alt/goth/rock music. \n\n\n\nDESPERATE MEASURES Biography:Four decades after forming the relatively short-lived band Desperate Measures in his native New Zealand\, the singer – and noted punk journalist – Eugene Butcher has returned to his first love. Assembling a new team of punk rock avengers including former members of the UK Subs\, Done Lying Down and The Glitterati\, Eugene and his band have finally released (most of) an album.Written largely in lockdown\, Rinsed froths with pent-up energy and frustration. Scars & Memories kicks things off with a driving groove and bloody licks straight from the Johnny Thunders school of scuzzed-up rock’n’roll. The Rich-Tual (see what they did there?) keeps those energy levels high\, with a taut riff and a ‘fuck the system’ theme\, complete with big ‘woah-oh’ hooks big enough to land a whale. They certainly know their way around an unruly anthem\, but then Flowers At Your Door changes the vibe with an echoing guitar and arch gothic atmosphere that sounds more like The Cult than any Pistols punk stomp. \n\n\n\nLost Angels adds an irresistible sense of hard rocking melody to its live-in-the-studio intensity and harks back to the band’s past\, with the six-track mini-album also featuring a more laid-back demo version from 1988. Finally\, there’s a cover of Don’t Gimme No Lip Child by ’60s pop star Dave Berry that owes more to the Sex Pistols’ version that cropped up on The Great Rock ‘N’ Roll Swindle. Ultimately\, this isn’t a release that is going to change the world\, but it is a set of cracking tunes performed with fire\, and sometimes that’s enough. For fans of: UK Subs\, The Stooges\, New York Dolls

SUMMARY:Night Shift Manchester - Inkubus Sukkubus + Jan Doyle Band + Maggie Fuzzbox
DESCRIPTION:Legendary pagan goth rock band Inkubus Sukkubus play a rare show in Manchester! \n\n\n\nInkubus Sukkubus are an English goth and pagan band\, formed in 1989 by Candia Ridley\, Tony McKormack and Adam Henderson\, who have been described as one of the most enduringly popular underground Goth bands in the UK. They also have been described by Mick Mercer as a “zombie version of Fleetwood Mac” in his book Hex Files: The Goth Bible. Ever popular and known for fabulous live shows they are always in demand for festivals around the UK and Europe. \n\n\n\nMaggie Fuzzbox (AKA Maggie Dunne) here performs her new solo material mixed with some reworked classics from the band We’ve Got A Fuzzbox and We’re Gonna Use It of which she was a founder member. She tells us the new project is largely based on dark electronic themes with a bit of guitar thrown in for good measure! \n\n\n\nJan Doyle Band self styled insurrectionary neo futurists offer a futuristic slant on the goth concept delivering a uniquely flamboyant live show with great variety of song styles. They provide an excitingly individual musical journey\, carefully curated to have a very particular flow of mood.

SUMMARY:Miranda Sex Garden + Bleedingblackwood
DESCRIPTION:Miranda Sex Garden return for their first public performance since 2000. \n\n\n\nFormed in 1990\, the band pioneered a unique sound blending madrigals with dark industrial rock. Following the success of albums including Madra\, Suspiria and Fairytales of Slavery\, in 2000 the band created their most accessible yet explosive album Carnival of Souls. Widely toured but never formally released\, that lost album was the last recorded work of the band. \n\n\n\nNow they return with original members from that time\, led by Katharine Blake (vocals) and with Trevor Sharpe on drums\, Teresa Casella on bass and Mike Servent on keyboards. Tragically\, founding guitarist Ben Golomstock died in 2018\, but his sound lives on through Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs\, Gong). Performer Bev Lee Harling (Mediaeval Baebes) completes the group. \n\n\n\nExpect a barrage of intense soundscapes\, ethereal vocals\, and seductive incessancy. \n\n\n\nThis unholy reunion is not to be missed. \n\n\n\nAlso featuring support from Berlin-based Bleedingblackwood – electronic opera for dark souls.

SUMMARY:Nightmare Music presents: Burning Chrome
DESCRIPTION:Heads up\, warboys and warrior girls! \n\n\n\nHere at Team Nightmare\, we never let anything get in the way of a good party\, and we’re sure that not even the end of the world and the fall of civilisation would stop us. And with the prospect looking closer every year\, with pandemics\, corrupt politicans and collapsing governments all around us\, we thought why not get some practice in now and hold a post-apocalyptic party for the end times? \n\n\n\nFor our Burning Chrome event\, we’re going to be revisiting Chrome from January\, but instead of a dystopian future\, this is an altogether grittier affair. Our theme will be industrial\, synth and electronic\, but with the added howl of guitars – if you could expect to hear it in the irradiated wasteland\, we’ll be playing it. We’re also going for a post-apocalyptic dress theme – whether you are a Gas Town fume junkie\, a Radlands lawgiver or just wasteland trash from the dust sea\, come and ride the Damnation Alley to Valhalla with us! \n\n\n\nAs an added bonus\, our old friend DJ Matt © of Slimelight and Infest fame will be joining us on the decks. Expect to hear the most fuelled up and danceable of badlands beats and nuclear noise\, from Gary Numan to Gunship\, Nine Inch Nails to Nitzer Ebb\, and Rammstein to Rotersand. \n\n\n\nWhen: Saturday 30th July\, 9pm – 3amWhere: upstairs at Ye Olde Salutation InnDoor tax is a paltry fiver as always. \n\n\n\nBe there\, or be forever mediocre!
