SUMMARY:Dark Side Of The Tyne 2025: Attrition + The Ultimate Dreamers + Novyi Lef
DESCRIPTION:UK Industrial legends Attrition headline Stripped in September \n\n\n\nFormed in Coventry in 1980 by Martin Bowes and Julia Niblock. The band emerged from the experimental post-punk scene of the early 1980s and\, along with other groups such as Throbbing Gristle\, Coil\, Einstürzende Neubauten\, and In the Nursery\, greatly contributed to the development of industrial music in the UK. From being part of the DIY and Cassette Culture scene in the 80s through to the release of The Black Mariah\, Attririon’s diversity has kept them on the cutting edge of dark music since their inception. \n\n\n\nThe Ultimate Dreamers were influenced by Belgian coldwave and British post-punk but the teenagers set upon their own path. Frigid\, organic tones with tainted with melancholy melodies\, sometimes catchy\, sometimes verging on the dissonant\, serve as a backdrop for themes dominated by raw dreams\, distressed love and social criticism. Between 1986 and 1990\, they wrote and self-recorded numerous tracks\, which resurfaced in 2020.The repertoire is exhumed\, resuscitated and enriched with new creations\, which they will bring back to the Black Bull following on from their successful tour last year \n\n\n\nNovyi Lef\, (it’s pronounced “No-Wee-Leff”)Taking their name from a 1920’s Soviet arts publication\, NOVYI LEF (pronounced No-wee Leff) offer an angry\, political take on electroclash\, plying their trade in architectural punk via analogue synth screams and squeals. The result is a very striking cold electronic sound\, almost similar to some aspects of NDW\, and early 80s british synth music from the industrial north with a modern twist. \n\n\n\nThis is all alongside our usual-unusual mix of post punk\, industrial\, Goth rock\, deathrock\, EBM\, New Wave\, Coldwave\, Darkwave\, Neue Deutsche Hart\, and various other alternative musical goodies. From the vault\, hot off the press or anywhere inbetween\, of course your requests are very welcome. \n\n\n\nThe Black Bull is on Mulgrave Terrace right across the dual carriageway from Gateshead Interchange\, making it accessible to people from a multitude of areas around the north east (Mileage may vary subject to public transport – the hub’s on the doorstep at least) and the drinks choices include a range of cask\, keg and bottled beers\, Ciders\, Wines\, Soft drinks both hot and cold. something for every one of your 5 senses\, and quite possibly your sixth as well. \n\n\n\ndoors 7pm\, Noyvi Lef on stage 7.45 pm\, The UItimate Dreamers at 8.30pm and ATTRITION at 9.30pm. Stripped DJs before\, between and after \n\n\n\nAdmission £12 advance / on the door
