B-MOVIE BIOGRAPHY

BACK TO THE FUTURE
Pioneers of 80’s electronic music, B-Movie, released their first new material in 30 years during 2013 via the German imprint No Emb Blanc. A new EP entitled Distant Skies and the first ever album, The Age Of Illusion, recorded by the original line-up of the Mansfield four-piece, were released much to the delight of a very loyal fan base across the globe.

The recordings heralded an end to a silence of nearly three decades for the band, who released three critically-acclaimed singles, Remembrance Day, Marilyn Dreams, and Nowhere Girl, and one album, Forever Running, during their career.
Echoes of B-Movie’s intensely melodic, post punk, synth-driven sound can be heard in many indie and dance acts of today: American electro-punk indie band, The Faint, reworked B-Movie’s Remembrance Day into Southern Belles in London Sing on their Wet From Birth album; and then B-Movie’s internationally most famous song, Nowhere Girl, was re-mixed by cult DJ Adam Freeland for the Warner Brothers album Future Retro. In 2000, UK music magazine Uncut released an album entitled, Dawn of Electronica, a tribute to the early innovators of electronic music, B-Movie were featured alongside Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Art of Noise and Giorgio Moroder. The sleeve notes read: ‘B-Movie’s Remembrance Day, though it might not have stormed the top 40, was quintessential synth pop; the lugubrious vocals and heroic gravitas, the stabbing keyboard as rhythmic device and air of icy melodrama/melancholia.’

B-Movie have now recorded further new material in the form of a another album due in 2016, entitled Climate of Fear for US label Cleopatra Records. It could be described as ‘retrofuture’ given it both looks to the past but also has its feet firmly planted in the present day.

The band continue to tour, connecting with fans old and new, playing one off dates and festivals in the UK, Germany, Spain & Greece.
