In July 2016, DJ Vilkas co-launched an event in Edinburgh focused on classic sounds of goths with a focus on newer bands innovating this area. Growing from venue to venue, with a brief pause over lockdown where livestreaming became the norm, 2026 marks Shadowplay’s 10th birthday! Now focused mostly on newer bands and styles, with a nod to the trailblazers, the club looks towards coldwave, deathrock and synthpunk – anything that promotes that dark punk spirit.

Following a 2023 reunion and signing with Metropolis Records, they released the 2024 album Crocodile Promises, toured the USA, and played major UK festivals like Rebellion and Bearded Theory.

The Fulford Arms, York 121 Fulford Road, York, United KingdomBalaam And The Angel: Formed in the West Midlands in 1984 by three Scottish brothers living in Staffordshire. The band have continued to perform in their original line up of Mark, Jim and Des Morris for over four decades.
The band, known for their dark, energetic sound blending goth, glam and alternative rock influences from acts like Bauhaus, Death Cult, Killing Joke etc, gained a cult following in the 1980’s underground scene.
